Lab 2: Bitmap Drawing (Krita) and Vector Drawing (Wick Editor)

Exercise 1: PNG Reproduction of an Artwork Cover

  1. Select a New Yorker cover artwork, such as the one shown below, or a poster artwork.

  2. Recreate the artwork using tools of your choice.
  3. Rely on the use of layers to separate drawn elements. For example, use layers for the sky, sandy beach, hotdog, etc.
  4. Learn about additional drawing tools and techniques (such as the ones below).
  5. Submit your work to canvas, including a capture of your layers.

Exercise 2: Vector Drawing in Wick Editor

  1. Choose the graphic character shown below or one of your choosing with similar complexity.
  2. Use of Wick Editor to create the image.
  3. Draw the entire image as a vector using only lines and a paintbucket to fill shapes. Do not use a paintbrush tool.
  4. Manipulate each line by adding curvature and connect lines.
  5. Take a screen snapshot of the completed "line" drawing.
  6. Finally, add fill color to achieve the final results.
  7. Upload two images: (a) "line" drawing and (b) completed drawing.
